Ernst Sachs, who
was at least for some time chairman of DASD during wartime days (according to the
header of this letter, he was also Chief of Communications of Himmler's organisation,
or at least speaking on behalf of them). He addressed an
urgent letter to
Heinrich Himmler on 31 July 1944, as to push (convince) him, that they should
take immediate action to employ all their
radio amateurs in electronic fields; which would benefit Germany's electronic
warfare, against their, seemingly, superior enemy. He gave several examples how
Britain and America
indeed benefitted from the
technical experience of radio amateurs. He even mentioned Watson-Watt, as he
called it: the
inventor of British radar, by his
full name and his recently achieved high honours!
